Alessandro Adorno was born in 1966 and his passion for languages immediately showed up as he wanted to understand the lyrics of Beatles’ songs. He studied at the Scuola Superiore Interpreti e Traduttori in Florence. During his studies in Florence, he taught Italian language and culture courses to foreign students and immediately became passionate about teaching. In 1992, Alessandro founded the Center for Italian language and culture “Babilonia” in Taormina, the first School for Italian language and culture for Foreigners South of Rome, with the intention of offering those who love Italy and Italian the possibility to study Italian language and culture in Italy in non-traditional destinations for learning Italian in Italy and to offer the opportunity to study in Sicily and discover its amazing cultural heritage.
He has served as President of ASILS -Association of the Schools of Italian as Second Language for 2 mandates and on the Executive Board for another 2 mandates. He has also served on the Executive Board of ELITE – the European Federation of National Association of Teaching Mother Languages to Foreign Students and has worked at the CEN/TC 329, the European Voluntary Norms on Language study providers. He is currently serving his mandate as “Italian Member” at the Executive Board of AATI – American Association of Teachers of Italian. During his professional life, he has traveled a lot and presented lectures on Italian language and Italian culture at Conferences, Universities and Italian Cultural Centers all over the world.
He is married to his beloved wife Katarina and father of a beautiful child named Jurko.
