Chris Picicci is director of Italian at Colorado State University-Pueblo. He completed his M.A. and PhD. at the University of Oregon in Romance Languages and Literatures and specializes in Italian and Spanish Renaissance epic. His current research focuses on the influence of Italian epic poetry on the Spanish epic of the Americas. Other aspects of his scholarship include the impact of Petrarchan lyric, the distinction between author and narrator, and a broad range of topics on Humanism and epos in Renaissance literature. He follows ACTFL Oral Proficiency Standards and recognizes the importance of teaching language through content-based courses.
